Trump’s Racially Charged Attacks Are Part of Risky Election Strategy

 

The mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, carried out on Saturday by an alleged white nationalist, has again raised concerns about President Donald Trump’s use of racially divisive language about immigrants and minorities as part of a risky strategy to win re-election in 2020. VOA’s Brian Padden reports that Trump’s racially charged rhetoric may help bolster white working class support, it could also alienate other groups that voted for him in 2016.
